What is World Rat day you ask? 

It is a International Rat Holiday designed to recognize the Fancy Rat

as a wonderful family companion pet for people of all ages.

In 2002 on the Ratlist, the longest standing Yahoo group on the

internet dedicated to the pet Rat. The idea of having a holiday that would give pet Rats the recognition they deserve and to promote

them as the wonderful family companion pets they truly are.

April 4th was selected to be "World Rat Day" as a small tribute

to the Ratlist. Simply because that is the date that the Ratlist

is believed to have been started on. The Ratlist Yahoo Group is

a wonderful Rat group that is a great asset to all pet rats and

to those that love them so.

Many Rat Clubs and Rat folks everywhere host private parties,

Ratfests, public promotions or other events all in celebration to

honor pet Rats on this day, April 4th.

April 4th 2008 marks the sixth anniversary since 2002 when the

first ever International Rat Holiday was launched.
